Canon announce new flagship studio and landscape camera codename donkey aka Canon 5DS

Once again canon are late to the party. Nikon realised having 2 models like the d800 and d800e was a bad plan so release the d810… Canon have now got similar high resolution bodies with the 5ds and 5ds r.. we back in the 80’s with RS turbo’s and cosworths! What a glorious time that was. It also coincides with film which is awesome too.

New cameras are always better than old cameras thats a fact. I will be able to pick this camera up and use it to take photos of the kids.

Remember the selling point of full frame cameras was better noise performance than your crappy DX body.. well canon have managed to break this barrier and give us the double whammy of the same ISO performance as DX plus a more restrictive ISO range.. so it’s a win-win!

Don’t worry though they’ve also stripped the video features away so that you’re better buying a digital rebel. Canon actually have a marketing department they have worked out how to charge you more for less. This is always the case like the McClaren F1 I drive is more than my ferrari

If I want medium format I’d pick up a film body or the much better Pentax 645Z. The pentax does everything better. The lenses are cheaper and you’re not having to cram everything onto a small sensor. Luckily no-one has heard of pentax so Canon and Nikon are safe.

The canon 5DS will perform like your Canon 7d2 but with less video options and less high iso sensitivity so you can use the 7d2 and the 5ds and get the same great performance.

As we’ve found with the nikon high resolution bodies you need superb technique to see any measurable difference, whilst people are configuring their canon 5ds turbo RS with go faster stripes I’ll be out making photos with my awesome film cameras and nikon d810. Though i can shoot great photos with my iphone too as i am so awesome.

On the plus side is makes nikon cameras a lot more attractive to people now so thanks canon and my mate Chuck must be scratching his head on this one.

Looks like nikon has been caught with it’s pants down – or flares down as the d750 appears to have massive flare issues.. a recall is brilliant if you don’t take photos as most d750 owners just buy them because they want to be cool. I’m a super uber pro and only ever use tried and tested cameras. The newest stuff always has bugs don’t buy it.

Wonder if nikon have any people left to test? or if they’re going down the microsoft and apple route of testing new released with users first.

Nikon D750 – another fail

I bet canon are laughing all over the place now. How many cameras so similar to each other do nikon have? This isn’t as good as my box brownie!

So now we have these FX bodies:

D610, Df, D4s, D810, D750

You can still buy and still current on the website:
D600, D800, D800E, D4.

And which are pro bodies according to nikon?

Nikon Df, D810 and D4s

Consumer bodies being D610, d750….

So according to nikon the single card slotted and d610 af sharing df is pro but the dual card slot d4s af equiped d750 is not? are nikon smoking crack?

Also why are nikon not giving adobe the heads up so that they can release their RAW camera support straight away. Nikon should realise that a camera is only as good as it’s workflow.. thats why i shoot film.

What a waste of money this junk thing will be – massive, heavy and cost as much as a small car.

The New D800 and D4 price hike (only for the UK)

I was just speaking to one of my buddys in the UK and he tells me that the D800 and D4 are back-ordered so much in the UK that they are gonna get some more dosh to pay for The Nikon UK summer bbq and raise the price on the D800 by £200 and £500 on the D4. Luckily they said they can just plame it on a system glitch… hahaha those silly limeys!

Another guy told me the Canon 5D3 has banding too.. do they not know thats a canon feature?

On top of the small fortune for the wireless features of the new 600EX.. I don’t think canon have heard that yonguno sell a whole wireless trigger and receiver for about $60.. hahahaah.

 

Anyway i’m off to shoot some film and get some great shots on my cheap D800 and kit lens.. gonna be awesome!

 

My take on the new nikon d5000

What are nikon thinking? an articulated screen – that’s going to break in 2 minutes.
And still 720p video? even canons cheap offering has 1080p video. Come on Nikon what are you thinking?
Still no proper Auto focus with video mode which makes it next to useless for any decent video and hence just a gimmick to try and get people to buy on headline items.
And worse of all – no AF on old lenses – only get that with AF-S lenses.
I think we should go back to shooting film, you knew where you were then.

Updating my main website

Now some of you may be having problem with my website right now – this is due to me moving to a better hosting provider who uses film and not the fancy digital.

tons of new nikon dSLRs coming soon

There are lots of new nikon dSLRs coming soon, including a d300 replacement with the all important HD video mode – so you can try to hold the thing still and see all the pores and hairs on everything you film. Real pro’s would of course use a full 35mm film movie camera together with a leica lens.

of course i plan on buying it so i can shoot my family movies on it. but don’t you buy it or you’ll ruin it for me.

Oh – and i’m sorry i didn’t mention the new canon 500d – i was out shooting film like a pro instead of reading about the latest camera release.

PS I’m still working on that ebay article i spoke about last year – but – don’t email me about it or it will take me even longer.

Ripped off again

I ordered some special gold lens caps – on ebay for 30 cents, and when they arrived turns out they were fools gold – i can’t believe it.

Who do they think i am? I’m the fake ken rockwell!

I’m going to go and get my leica and shoot some rolls of film – almost as good as my d40…..

D40 and D3x

I know i said not to buy a d3x and i know i then went and bought one so you guys didn’t have to.

and i know i keep saying how great a d40 is because of it’s pro level 1/500 sync speed.

and i know there is still no sign of my ebay article, but, hey you get what you pay for.

i’m going to buy the new 35/1.8 DX lens and the new d400 just so you guys don’t have to, man i’d good.
